My son showed signs of autism around 18 months. The only thing that was hard to grasp was how "unautistic" he seemed. Everyday became a checklist...is he, isn't he? I always knew he was on the spectrum, but where was his place. I knew I didn't want to label this little boy, but I searched for answers with every part of my being. Joshua was diagnosed with autism, but high functioning autism. That meant with therapy, dedication, and love Joshua would conquer this disorder. He would become a hero of autism to inspire other families that success stories aren't only possible, but attainable.
