Stacey

About Stacey Christoff

My son showed signs of autism around 18 months. The only thing that was hard to grasp was how "unautistic" he seemed. Everyday became a checklist...is he, isn't he? I always knew he was on the spectrum, but where was his place. I knew I didn't want to label this little boy, but I searched for answers with every part of my being. Joshua was diagnosed with autism, but high functioning autism. That meant with therapy, dedication, and love Joshua would conquer this disorder. He would become a hero of autism to inspire other families that success stories aren't only possible, but attainable.

Never Believe in Limits

A couple of years ago nobody could tell me when my son would be able to talk because of a massive speech delay. We had to work our asses off every minute of every day. And now here we are…proving that miracles happen. Not only conquering English… but Spanish as well! Never believe in […]

This is What an Invisible handicap Looks Like

This is what an invisible handicap looks like. I am in a normal classroom, but sometimes the other kids are so loud I cover my ears. I am kind, but may not understand what sharing means if it’s my toy and I don’t want you to touch it, so you may think I’m mean. […]

Just Because He Could

Today after my little boy decided to dress himself and also buckle his own car seat just to show he could…I’m reminded of how far we’ve come. Around 18 months I noticed he was extremely active. People told me it was a “Christoff” trait, Drs at Providence treated me like I was a paranoid […]

Noah Britton Explains autism from a new perspective

Noah Britton…a psychology professor who didn’t learn he had Aspergers until he was 20. The first 10 minutes of his lecture explain autism from a perspective that make things so much more accessible to the average person and explain so many of Joshua’s challenges and strengths. I’ve watched this 50 times and it makes […]

Watching Parenthood – I can Relate

I’ve always been overprotective of him, because you never know how people will respond, and when it’s your child the decision to share becomes that much more difficult. Recently I’ve been binge watching Parenthood and I realized this was the only show and family I have been able to relate to in the last […]
